Village People are a concept disco group formed in the late 1970s. The group is well known for their on-stage costumes as for their catchy tunes and suggestive lyrics. Original members were: police officer (Victor Willis), American Indian chief (Felipe Rose), cowboy (Randy Jones), construction worker (David Hodo), biker (Glenn Hughes) and Military man (Alex Briley).
They scored a number of disco and dance hits, including their trademark “Macho Man“, “Go West“, the classic club medley of “San Francisco (You’ve Got Me) / In Hollywood (Everybody is a Star)“, “In the Navy“, “Can’t Stop the Music“, “Sex Over the Phone” and their biggest hit, “Y.M.C.A.“.

Young man, there’s no need to feel down.
I said, young man, pick yourself off the ground.
I said, young man, ’cause you’re in a new town
There’s no need to be unhappy.
Young man, there’s a place you can go.
I said, young man, when you’re short on your dough.
You can stay there, and I’m sure you will find
Many ways to have a good time.
It’s fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A.
It’s fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A.
They have everything that you need to enjoy,
You can hang out with all the boys …
It’s fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A.
It’s fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A.
You can get yourself clean, you can have a good meal
You can do whatever you feel …
Young man, are you listening to me?
I said, young man, what do you want to be?
I said, young man, you can make real your dreams.
But you’ve got to know this one thing!
No man does it all by himself.
I said, young man, put your pride on the shelf,
And just go there, to the Y.M.C.A.
I’m sure they can help you today.
You can get yourself clean, you can have a good meal,
You can do whatever you feel …
Young man, I was once in your shoes.
I said, I was down and out with the blues.
I felt no man cared if I were alive.
I felt the whole world was so jive …
That’s when someone came up to me,
And said, young man, take a walk up the street.
It’s a place there called the Y.M.C.A.
They can start you back on your way.
It’s fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A.
It’s fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A.
They have everything that you need to enjoy,
You can hang out with all the boys …

ABBA was a Swedish pop music group active between 1972 and 1983. The band comprised Benny Andersson (Sweden), Björn Ulvaeus (Sweden), Anni-Frid Lyngstad (Norway), and Agnetha Fältskog (Sweden). They topped the charts worldwide from the mid-1970s to the early 1980s. The name “ABBA” is an acronym formed from the first letters of each of the group member’s given name (Agnetha, Björn, Benny, Anni-Frid).
ABBA gained immense international popularity employing catchy song hooks, simple lyrics, and a Wall of Sound achieved by overdubbing the female singers’ voices in multiple harmonies. As their popularity grew, they were sought after to tour Europe, Australia, and North America, drawing crowds of near-hysterical fans (“ABBAholics”), notably in Australia. Touring became a contentious issue, being particularly unpopular with Agnetha, but they continued to release studio albums to great commercial success. At the height of their popularity, however, both marriages of the band members (Benny with Frida, and Björn with Agnetha) failed, and the relationship changes were reflected in their music, as they produced more thoughtful lyrics with different compositions.
ABBA was also the first pop group from mainland Europe to enjoy consistent success in the charts of the English-speaking countries, mainly the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. Their enormous popularity subsequently opened the doors for other Continental European acts. The music of ABBA has been re-arranged into the successful musical Mamma Mia! that has toured worldwide and a movie version was released in July 2008. All four of the former members of ABBA were present at the Stockholm premieres of both the musical (2005) and the film (2008).
Mamma Mia by ABBA
I’ve been cheated by you since I don’t know when
So I made up my mind, it must come to an end
Look at me now, will I ever learn?
I don’t know how but I suddenly lose control
There’s a fire within my soul
Just one look and I can hear a bell ring
One more look and I forget everything, o-o-o-oh
Mamma mia, here I go again
My my, how can I resist you?
Mamma mia, does it show again?
My my, just how much I’ve missed you
Yes, I’ve been brokenhearted
Blue since the day we parted
Why, why did I ever let you go?
Mamma mia, now I really know,
My my, I could never let you go.
I’ve been angry and sad about the things that you do
I can’t count all the times that I’ve told you we’re through
And when you go, when you slam the door
I think you know that you won’t be away too long
You know that I’m not that strong.
Mamma mia, even if I say
Bye bye, leave me now or never
mamma mia, it’s a game we play
Bye bye doesn’t mean forever
Mamma mia, here I go again
My my, how can I resist you?
Mamma mia, does it show again?
My my, just how much I’ve missed you
Yes, I’ve been brokenhearted
Blue since the day we parted
Why, why did I ever let you go
Mamma mia, now I really know
My my, I could never let you go
Last Thursday, I went to Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel to join an event ” The Marco Polo German Bierfest 2008″ with my friends. We had a happy and nice evening!!! It’s my first time to join this event, the atmosphere at there was really hot and high~ There were some traditional good shows on stage by The Notenhoblers from Munich. Besides, all the people no matter from New Zealand, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Australia…and from local Hong KOng too.. we all together enjoyed the show, played games, and danced together when the music started~

I still remembered the song “Mamma Mia” and “YMCA”, me and my friends danced like crazy and excited about it. Wow… really wish we could join this event again next year!!!
Besides, there are some delicious traditional German food~ We had 2 beers per each, 2 Pot Roasted Pork, 1 dish of Sausages, 1 dish of Roasted Goat (All dishes with meat always served with Pretzel) and the dessert was Schwarzwälderkirschtorte (literally “Black Forest cherry torte“). Typically, Black Forest cake consists of several layers of chocolate cake, with whipped cream and cherries between each layer. Then the cake is decorated with additional whipped cream, maraschino cherries, and chocolate shavings.
Let’s talk about the main course: :-p
Schweinebraten (pot roasted pork) with Knödel (dumplings made from potatoes and/or white bread) and Kraut (cabbage) or a Schweinshaxe (pork knuckle) are usually served as lunch or dinner.

德國咸麥包圈 (Pretzel)
Pretzel is a bread pastry of German origin, that has the shape of a three looped knot or twisted braid. Pretzels are either soft or hard. Hard pretzels have evolved into a variety of shapes from knotted loops to straight “pretzel sticks” (called “Salzstangen” in German, Ropi in Hungarian). The pretzel dough is made from wheat flour, water, sugar and yeast, sprinkled with coarse salt. Pretzels are typically salted and glazed with lye.
Pretzels can be found in a variety of shapes and sizes. Traditional soft pretzels are about the size of a hand. Most hard pretzels are only 2-3 mm thick. Hard pretzels which are 0.8-1.5 cm thick are called Bavarian pretzels. Hard pretzels are also available with a sweet candy coating of chocolate, strawberry and other flavors. Chocolate-covered hard pretzels are also popular, especially around Christmas time. Other varieties include pretzels dipped in mustard.
Oktoberfest was first held on 12 October 1810 in honour of the marriage of crown prince Ludwig to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. The festivities were closed with a horse race and in the following years the horse races were continued and later developed into what is now known as the Oktoberfest. Despite its name, most of Oktoberfest occurs in September. It always finishes on the first Sunday in October unless the German national holiday on 3 October (“Tag der deutschen Einheit” – Day of German Unity) is a Monday or Tuesday – then the Oktoberfest remains open for these days.

It seems real autumn comes suddenly this evening…. I perceive the weather is cool now…. I really love it!!! In Chinese calender, I should say winter comes after 7 Nov. However, I did not perceive autumn/winter has come after Mid Autumn Festival on 14 Sept because the temperature was always around 20-30C. Today, the weather forecast said the temperature will drop below 20C next week. Hope the cool weather will long last till the end of this year.
Now, I can hear outside is quite windy, I can hear the sound of wind blowing on trees…I really like this sound, the sound of nature. It makes me feel comfortable.
This nice weather evening, it makes me think of a movie ” Sweet November”, there was a theme song named “Only Time” by Enya. Besides, this weather is good for hiking, travelling and hugging with your love lol~~
P.S. Global Warming is really affecting us… after a decade, maybe we don’t have winter in Hong Kong…. I will write a post about it later.
