Relax with “Joe Hisaishi” 久石讓 (Part I) May 31, 2008

Joe Hisaishi is a brilliant composer, singer, author, arranger, pianoist, typesetter and head of orchestra in Japan. Mostly, he spent his time on composing. He is regarded as one of the most influential composers in the Japanese film industry. He composed over 40 film soundtracks, including Prinicess Mononoke (1997), My Neighbor Totoro  (198 by Hayao Miyazahui, Spirited Away (2001), Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind  (1983), Howls’ Moving Castle (2004), and other films by Kitano Takeshi. Besides, the song of the tale of mari and three puppies in my previous post is also made by him.

In these years, he toured actively to perform in a variety of styles: Piano solo, ensemble and orchestra. The following are the Japanese animation videos that he performed and composed. Besides, all of these Japanese animation were made by Hayao Miyazaki. Those animations sometimes reflects the reality. Therefore, it is worth to watch it. I will introduce about him in the next post.

A tale of Mari and Three Puppies {柴犬奇蹟物語} May 27, 2008

I have watched this movie last weekend with my friend.  At the beginning, we knew that we might cry while watching it because it is kind of a movie to make people cry lol ( feeling touch) but I did not realize that this movie was also talking about EARTHQUAKE……

The background music in this movie with the scene made people feeling touch..and made me feel like crying when I heard it again…The below link is the music in this movie-今、風の中で – 平原綾香, it’s a japanese song, though i do not understand what she is singing about, the melody of the music is enough to make people feeling touch. Enjoy~

When I saw the scene of the earthquake, my tear started to shed…I saw how people sufferred, injuried and died in this disaster. The feeling was not good. It made me thinking about the earthquake happened in Sichuan on 12 May. The background of this movie was happened on 23 Oct,2004 in Japan. It was a REAL STORY.

This is a story of life, based on reality. The miraculous survival of a mother dog and her puppies for 16 days in an evacuated village. October 23, 2004, 5:56 in the afternoon. An earthquake occurred with a magnitude of 6.8, it’s epicenter in the Chuetsu region of Niigata Prefecture. It was named the “Niigata Prefecture Chuetsu Earthquake.” The famous town of Yamakoshi (now called Nagaoka), known for its battling bulls and colored carp, suffered catastrophic destruction and was thrust into total isolation when its main access highway was destroyed. But a certain episode brought courage to the inhabitants of Yamakoshi, who had reached the depths of despair.

改編自真人真事，2004年10月23日下午5時56分，新潟縣發生6.8級地震。石川家的爺爺優造及小孩阿彩，受了重傷被困在瓦礫中，就在此時他們聽到了家中柴犬麻里的聲音，牠更不顧安危，一邊照顧自己的孩子「包」、「剪」、「揼」，一邊叫喚優造和彩子給予他們生存的勇氣。最後自衛隊趕到把所以居民救了出來，可是卻遺留麻里和三隻小狗在災區 !

在沒有食物下，麻里仍然盡力守護著三隻小狗，在避難所的阿彩和哥哥亮太得知暴風雨快來臨，兩人決定開始展開他們的拯救計畫！究竟麻里和小狗們可以獲救嗎？牠們跟石川家的家人可以團聚嗎？

” Promise ” is the song made by the local Hong Kong Singer, which mourn for the dead, encourage the victims and arises people awareness about this tragedy. Though foreigners could not understand the lyrics, but they can understand and perceive something in this video….something that do not need any WORDS to describe.

3 mins silence at 14:28 on 5.19 全國民眾默哀3分鐘 May 20, 2008

5月19日4時58分，北京天安門廣場在正常的升旗儀式後下半旗，以表達全國各族人民對四川汶川大地震遇難同胞的深切哀悼。全國各地民眾並於14時28分默哀3分鐘。

 

Millions of people in China and overseas observed three minutes silence at 2:28 p.m. Monday to mourn thousands of people killed in an earthquake which hit the nation’s southwest a week ago. (Source：新華社 XinHua)

 This afternoon at 14:28, I also kept 3 mins silent to mourn people who were killed in the earthquake. It was the hard moment….. Meanwhile, most of the people in HK also did the same thing together!!!

 

These days, I have watched and heard many news about the earthquake. Besides, I can also see many tv raising funds’ program for the victims. When the tv program was showing the victims’ conditions and those broken bricks…i cannot control my tears and i cried. I was feeling sad and feeling down these days. What can i do for them? I can just donate some money for the victims and pray for them.

 

It’s not easy to stay calm when I watched those news and scenes. In this incident, i can see how strong of us, we support to each other and encourage the victims to be strong! ALL the people GROUP together.

 

Another thing impressed and reminded me is to: Cherish 珍惜.

 

To cherish what you have and to cherish the people you loved. 珍惜你所擁有的及你所愛的人

5.12 Sichuan Earthquake 四川大地震 May 18, 2008

The Sichuan Earthquake at a magnitude 8.0 occurred at 14:28 on 12 May 2008 in Sichuan province of China. The epicenter was 80 km West-northwest of Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan, with a depth of 19 km.  The earthquake was felt as far away as Beijing ( 1,500 km away), where office buildings swayed with the tremor. The earthquake was also felt in nearby countries.

 

Official figures state that 32,477 are confirmed dead, including 31,978 in Sichuan province, and 220,109 injured. The numbers of the death toll might raise up to 50,000, the Chinese government warned.

 

The officials declared May 19-21,2008 as National mourning days for this natural catastrophe.

Brilliant Singer: Teresa Teng 鄧麗君 (1953- 1995) May 4, 2008

Teresa Teng 鄧麗君

Teresa Teng was a brilliant Singer. She was the first Chinese singer to have concert at the Casear’s Palace in Las Vegas. She is the well known singer in Mainland China and Japan.

Unfortunately, she died of an asthma attack on May 8,1995 and came to an end of her short 42-year life.

Beijing Olympic 2008: Torch Relay in HONG KONG (2 MAY) May 3, 2008

    One World One Dream  

   同一個世界  同一個夢想

 

 The above picture is the torch used for the relay of Beijing Olympic 2008. Yesterday, the lighted torch  was delivered to Hong Kong from Vietnam. Today, almost every people wore red t-shirt to show they support this event and our country! There were tons of people celebrated this event, as i can see this scene on TV news! It’s amazing~I found that there were REALLY many people no need to work on that day lol~ haha.

 

There are 120 people selected for the torch relay.  Only 1/3 are local althetics and the rest are from political parties, or well known artists in HK. It is the first time using Dragon Boat for the relay!!!
